5 Parks for Fall Foliage in Bergen County

5 Parks for Fall Foliage in Bergen County

As the leaves begin to change, there are few better places to observe the seasonal beauty than right here in the heart of New Jersey. If you'd like to snap a photo of the changing colors reflected in a tranquil lake or take a leisurely stroll through the woods, our local parks offer ample opportunity to immerse yourself in the season. Our real estate agents curated a list of the top five parks for fall foliage in Bergen County.

1. Saddle River County Park

760 Saddle River Road, Saddle Brook, NJ 07663

One of the county's largest parks stretches from a location near these Ridgewood homes for sale to Rochelle Park and Glen Rock. Saddle River County Park is 596 acres of mostly wooded area. It comprises five distinct "park areas" linked by a multi-use 6-mile path. With ponds, streams, trails, and playgrounds, it's one of the best spots to experience the beauty of fall. We highly recommend snapping a picture near the waterfall at Dunkerhook Park.

2. Van Saun County Park

216 Forest Ave., Paramus, NJ 07652

You'll be astonished at the bursting colors throughout Van Saun County Park every fall. The park is over 130 acres and one of New Jersey's most popular. It also features a small zoo, picnic areas, and the Safari Express, a ridable miniature railroad. This is a beautiful place to enjoy the weather with family, and it's conveniently located near these Paramus homes for sale.

3. Irene Habernickel Park

1037 Hillcrest Road, Ridgewood, NJ 07450

If you're looking for a low-key spot to snap a few family pictures with a beautiful fall backdrop, stop by Irene Habernickel Park. This park is about 10 acres and has well-maintained walking trails, a beautiful bridge overlooking a pond, and a playground for the kids. If you visit in the evening, you may just catch a glimpse of a stunning autumn sunset.

4. Darlington County Park

600 Darlington Ave., Mahwah, NJ 07430

A 178-acre park with thickly wooded areas, lakes, and sandy beaches, Darlington County Park draws many leaf peepers throughout the season. Several walking paths weave throughout the park, and there are picnic areas and basketball courts if you'd like to plan a family outing. Pets are allowed only after Labor Day. While you're in the area, we highly recommend visiting one of these Mahwah homes for sale nearby.

5. Thielke Arboretum

460 Doremus Ave., Glen Rock, NJ 07452

The Thielke Arboretum is a wetland forest preserve and a tranquil oasis full of spring-fed ponds, gardens, and nature trails. Rutgers University recommended most of the trees planted in the area as they're specific to New Jersey landscapes. They're truly a site to see once the leaves begin to turn. We're lucky to have this community asset close to our favorite Glen Rock homes for sale.

With some of the brightest fall colors in the Northeast, Bergen County is one of the most beautiful places to visit in autumn. Contact us today to schedule your home tour.
