What is your favorite ice cream flavor? If you're a fan of chocolate, you're not alone. In fact, so many people love chocolate ice cream that there is an entire holiday dedicated to the flavor. June 7th is National Chocolate Ice Cream Day, and our real estate agents can recommend some great Bergen County ice cream shops to visit in celebration.
Van Dyk's Homemade Ice Cream:
145 Ackerman Ave., Ridgewood, NJ 07450
Van Dyk's Homemade Ice Cream is a small, family-owned ice cream shop. They make all of their own products in-house, and their ice cream is smooth and creamy.
In honor of National Chocolate Ice Cream Day, ordering chocolate would make sense. But Van Dyk's also has chocolate chip, chocolate peanut butter, cheesecake brownie, and coffee chip. They sell pints and quarts to take home for later, and their milkshakes have quite a following, too.
Mr. Moo's Ice Cream Cafe:
104 North Maple Ave., Ridgewood, NJ 07450
Mr. Moo's Ice Cream Cafe is a great place to stop after looking at nearby Ridgewood homes for sale. The shop has a fun, lighthearted atmosphere and is a great place to take kids. They make their own ice cream using fresh ingredients. You can even custom-order your ice cream mix-ins and watch them prepare your order on their chilled table.
If you're on a low-fat diet, you're in luck. Mr. Moo's has a low-fat chocolate yogurt on the menu. They also have dark chocolate ice cream, perfect for those who find regular chocolate ice cream a touch too sweet.
The Cookie Connect:
46 Chestnut St., Ridgewood, NJ 07450
The Cookie Connect was founded in 2016 and has quickly become one of Ridgewood's favorite spots for cookies. However, they also have a cereal ice cream bar that would be perfect to enjoy on National Chocolate Ice Cream Day.
At Cookie Connect's cereal bar, you start by choosing your ice cream flavor. Then, you add cereals of your choice. Cocoa Pebbles seem suitable for the occasion. You can blend in a cookie, then top it all off with your favorite sauce. Yum!
New Territories Ice Cream:
13-24 River Rd., Fair Lawn, NJ 07410
New Territories Ice Cream is a unique ice cream shop focused on bringing Hong Kong-style sweets and treats to the U.S. They serve their small-batch ice creams in big bubble waffles, making for a truly indulgent experience. The waffle is the perfect combination of crispy and chewy, and you can have it filled with any ice cream flavor you prefer.
Another cool option is New Territories' signature milkshakes. The Mr. Grumpy milkshake is chocolate ice cream blended with brownie bits, marshmallows, Pocky, and peanuts, then topped with fudge and whipped cream.
Waldwick Whistle Stop:
27 Frederick St., Waldwick, NJ 07463
Waldwick Whistle Stop is the perfect place to stop for ice cream when looking at Waldwick homes for sale. This family-friendly shop sells ice cream, ice cream cakes, and even delicious sandwiches. You won't feel as guilty enjoying an ice cream cone if you order lunch first!
Waldwick Whistle Stop is set up to look like a train station with lots of Thomas the Tank Engine decor inside and out. They scoop the ice cream by hand, and their waffle cones are excellent.
As you can see, the Ridgewood area has no shortage of great ice cream shops. If you're an ice cream lover thinking of moving here, feel free to contact us. Our real estate agents would be happy to help you find a home.
