Explore the Walking Paths at These Ridgewood Parks

March 30 is "Take a Walk in the Park" Day, and our agents have a suggestion or two!

There are all kinds of wonderful parks near Ridgewood homes for sale. Whether great or small, they each offer respite and a fun diversion in the form of a walk through natural surroundings. In addition to carefully preserved trails, most of them have benches, picnic spaces, or sports fields you can use.

Here's a selection of some of the most beloved local parks to get you started on your trek:

Irene Habernickel Family Park

1037 Hillcrest Rd., Ridgewood, NJ 07450

Irene Habernickel Family Park is especially welcoming for a walk because of the short and easy trail to picturesque Ho-Ho-Kus Brook. You can explore the dense old-growth forest in the pleasant shade of beech and tulip poplar. It's recommended both for walks and fun classes at the Health Barn.

Leuning Park

Northern Parkway & Meadowbrook Avenue, Ridgewood, NJ 07450

Leuning Park attracts visitors from all over Ridgewood because it sprawls across enough space for larger team sports. Neighbors are known to meet and greet with their dogs early in the morning. The track is friendly to walkers, and it spans nearly half a mile.

Ridgewood Municipal Park

207-209 Lakeview Dr., Ridgewood, NJ 07450

Ridgewood Municipal Park is a beautiful local park where area residents are encouraged to while away the hours in calm comfort. With a mix of paved and unpaved trails, you can encounter whitetail deer, wild turkeys, and other wildlife tucked away near some of Ridgewood's most desirable neighborhoods.

Saddle River County Park

1133 E. Ridgewood Ave., Ridgewood, NJ 07450

Saddle River County Park is perhaps best known for its wild duck pond area, where you can watch local ducks and geese at play. A serene and relaxing location, it's ideal for a walk or a calming sit on one of the benches. It also provides plenty of room for cycling and an area to do your own barbecuing.

Veteran's Park

131 N. Maple Ave., Ridgewood, NJ 07450

Veteran's Park is a family-friendly pocket park with places to walk or toss a frisbee with the kids. The playground area has attractions for children from age four up to twelve. It's recently been renovated and expanded with new equipment. The park is also highly secure, making it popular with parents.

Graydon Park

259 N. Maple Ave., Ridgewood, NJ 07450

Graydon Park is where the kids go to enjoy the Graydon Pool for seasonal swimming fun and is also the location of the Village of Ridgewood Parks & Recreation Main Office. There's a sandy beach perfect for sunning, picnic and play areas, and lots of terrain to walk around in.
