The holidays can be difficult when you've just moved to a new area. Your family likely had events and traditions you looked forward to in your old neighborhood. But now you can create new traditions! Where are the events in Bergen County to help get you into the holiday spirit? Here are some that our real estate agents look forward to.
Downtown for the Holidays
Broad Street, Ridgewood, NJ 07450
A tradition near Ridgewood homes for sale for nearly 40 years, Downtown for the Holidays is a perfect way to kick off the holiday season. On December 6th from 6-9 p.m., there's a tree lighting at 6:30 p.m., followed by live music and dancing. There are plenty of events for the kids, including trackless train rides, a touch-a-truck, a fire pit for s'mores in Memorial Park, and, of course, a visit from Santa himself. The Ridgewood Arts Council will also announce the winners of the Holiday Window Decorating Contest. If you've just moved to Ridgewood, Downtown for the Holidays is your new holiday tradition.
Let It Glow: A Holiday Lantern Spectacular
216 Forest Ave., Paramus, NJ 07652
Throughout the holiday season, you can head to the Bergen County Zoo to experience Let It Glow. Located near Paramus homes for sale through January 12th, it features a host of breathtaking, larger-than-life lantern displays in the shapes of animals, plants, landscapes, and other holiday visuals. There's also a train ride, plus free crafts on Saturdays and Sundays. The display is open Thursdays through Sundays, and tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for kids.
Tenafly Holiday Fair
Tenafly Road, Tenafly, NJ 07670
Family holiday shopping is a long and venerated tradition, but the crowds and the costs can also make it a real chore. At the Tenafly Holiday Fair, though, it becomes an event to look forward to instead of dread as you shop for holiday gifts, decorations, food, and more while supporting local businesses. Over 50 local vendors and artisans will be at Oresko Park on Saturday, December 14th, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., selling everything from clothing and jewelry to bath and body products to art and photography. There are also food trucks all around, ice skating, arts and crafts, and a stage with various holiday entertainment throughout the day, from songs to ballet and more. With something for everyone in your family, the Tenafly Holiday Fair is an event not to be missed.
Orchard of Lights
244 Werimus Road, Hillsdale, NJ 07642
For one of the most beautiful and elaborate light displays in New Jersey, head to Demarest Farms in Hillsdale for Orchard of Lights. A drive-through tour across 32 acres of dazzling displays, it even has holiday music and sound through your car radio. The tour is about 25 minutes, then check out the Farm Market for hot cocoa by the fire and a chance to visit Santa and his singing reindeer!
Bergen County's Winter Wonderland
216 Forest Ave., Paramus, NJ
If you enjoy ice skating and other frozen weather activities, head to Bergen County's Winter Wonderland. Open throughout the holiday season at Van Saun Park, there's one rink for skating and another for ice bumper cars.
